The Invisible Body Of Christ
I continue to wander through this world and count it an abundant blessing when I come across other men or women who belong to the invisible body of Christ.
There are many visible parts of the body of Christ, and I do not discount their existence by mentioning those who are invisible. What I have found however in these amazing people I encounter is an incredible level of understanding and empathy.
A friend of mine recently shared a simple statement. "The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These people have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people...do not just happen."
It truly struck me. I know some people like this. These attributes make them like Christ.
Jesus is humble yet strong. Those are the kind of people with which I like to spend time. Time can be spent in communication, or in silence, in tears or in laughter and it does not matter. You can be separated from these kinds of friends for years and then see them again and pick up where you left off.
There is a common thread that runs through the human race, everyone of us. It's suffering. Some of us have suffered more than others. When your spirit can bear witness to another spirit and empathize with their suffering it usually results in tears shed. Why? Because there is an understanding of common hardship.
The hardships that build into tension over time as we try to act as the mountain or the island of fortitude and strength, The tension and stress that are released by experiencing empathy come out in tears. Releasing those tears allows us to release the difficult emotions associated with them. Fear of failure is right at the top of my list.
It's really important to have good friends that can bear witness to the difficulties in your own life.
