For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:20
I have often thought about this verse and about what exactly it means. It is wide open enough that you could pick any example from scripture to analyze and meditate on.
I discussed this verse with my 9 year old son. I asked him some questions about it.
"What do you think it means by the things that are made? What things do you see that make you think God is in them?"
He said, "Trees, because they are pretty and they have fruit."
"What is good about the fruit?" I asked. "It tastes good, and it is pretty." he said.
So this is the simple thought of a 9 year old boy.

I have my own thoughts to add to why I think a tree is evidence of the invisible power and Godhead of our creator.
Perhaps because before it was a tree, it was a seed. And in that seed is a plan for growth. And in that plan it requires resources of water, dirt, sun, and seasons. Not to mention the actual process of what the little growing tree is going to do with all the ingredients in order to grow.
By the documented process of photosynthesis where a plant takes the sun's energy and turns it into food, we are witnessing a miracle of life all in itself, according to God's plan, that He implanted in a seed 6000 years ago at the Genesis of this world we live in. When he said that trees will produce seed after their own kind and the seeds will be in the fruit of the trees.
How simple, and yet complicated beyond measure is the basic idea of a living organism we call a tree.
Furthermore, if you take that tree and put it in good nutrient rich dirt near a river...it will thrive. The same tree if it was denied this basic need would be weak and small by comparison. The sun, water, dirt, nutrients, wind, and seasons all create and shape the way this tree will grow and be formed into God's creation.
Have you ever seen a tree in a windy area, how it continuously gets blown to one side and the tree's limbs are pointing and growing to one side?
Perhaps there is much to be learned by the simple, invisible things which are understood by the things that are made. We also can learn that some things might be bad or good for the growth of our own tree, our soul. Those things we allow in our lives, have great effect upon the way we end up looking, acting, feeling, and contributing to society.
A nurtured soul becomes bountiful in fruit and supplies many with the love it has multiplied in healthy growth. We are responsible for recognizing the source of this fruit and bounty. The Godhead and power of the creator of the universe. What will you do with that knowledge?
Just some thoughts to chew on.
