Greg Eddolls - The Strong Watchman

by J. Alison

For my first article here on Strong Watchman I want to write about something very close to my heart and something I feel I am well-versed in, Education. But first I want to give some background and get some things out on the table.

As a former 8.5 year public school employee - I received an education like no other. And not quite like the powers that be (at the district level) were probably hoping I would learn.

When I first began my 8.5 year career as a local school district employee (classified staff) I was thrilled! I thought, “Finally, after spending several years in higher education, acquiring a degree (in Computer Information Systems) I get to use what I've learned, in an "honorable" field; working with children, doing something amazing!” Or so I thought . . .

In the beginning and for the first 3 years it went pretty well. I worked for two different principals who were pretty laid back, easy to get along with (at least for me and from my perspective anyway); who both gave me a lot of free reign to run the computer lab and the technology aspect in our building how I saw fit. I felt respected and as though I was doing something really great. Like a bonified productive member of society (for the first time in my life and after a long line of go nowhere jobs). I immediately hit the ground running; got plugged in and did my best to become an active member of my school projects and committees (and the district). I joined one organization after the other that was half related to my job, the other half not related to my roll as the Computer Site Manager: the Building Tech Committee, Employees Issues and Work Group committee, I became the Student Assistance Program Coordinator, the English as a Second Language Tutor coordinator, and that's not all), you name it, I signed up for it.

In my third year of working for our local school district, after a series of unfortunate events, a new administrator was put in charge of our school. And that's when things took a turn for the worst. You would think educated people would have better things to do with their time than to create and maintain a hostile working environment such as I and many others endured in my remaining 5+ yrs. as an "educator” with this school district.

Somehow or another, once the new regime change came about (along with a new Superintendent the year before); somewhere along the line, not only did I become completely inept and unable to do anything without being micromanaged – I began to see a trend of this district-wide.

And, as long as you were to: go with the flow and didn't rock the boat, or go against the grain, or see things a different way than they did (and God forbid mention it) - no matter how wrong, off-base, or even sometimes illegal they did things - you would do just fine. But that's not the way I am built.

No, when I see trouble coming or things just don't seem right - which said person use to be referred to as a visionary - I try to inform and avert oncoming chaos, danger, or unnecessary rough spots at all costs. But not with this group. Just like we see coming to pass with this Kevin Jennings character on a national level (Obama's "Safe School" Czar – who anyone with a brain knows that something just isn't right). But ask questions, and you are a homophobe (or in my case with this particular school district an infidel). I thought it was a local problem, but as it turns out it is a national problem. And it doesn't stop at just the educational aspect of this institution.

It was in this third year and BECAUSE of the hostile working conditions that I was forced to join a group who I was told was going to "protect" me. Little did I, and others know, they would end up leaving hanging us out to dry. To make a long, drawn out, two year story short, let me just say it all ended badly with US (the harassed and offended) being made out to be the bad guys and US being requested to apologize and make amends to the very people who had accosted us. So essentially, as it turned out – I (and others) ended up paying two years (if not more for others) worth of dues only to find out, the two entities are in cahoots. And that, not only is the NEA not around for the betterment of children, it certainly isn't around to protect it's members. To make matters worse, it uses it's member's dues to do things politically, that are illegal to do. It's, just like with all other unions across the country, all about power and control of the funds – local, state, and federal.

As it turns out, they are not only full of hot air when it comes to their infamous saying, “It's for the children,” they do nothing but allow our children to be degraded, debased, and destroyed as can be verified through recent events concerning Kevin Jennings & co. and the disgusting list of books he and his cohorts pushed into public schools containing their homosexual agenda. As it turns out, I got a real world education.

But here is the thing - children are the very fabric of our nation (and the world) and our most precious blessing and gifts from God. Which is why the enemy of our soul's (Satan) goes right after our little ones. He wants to knock them out and down for the count, before they even have a chance to get up, dust themselves off, and grow up to be healthy, well-rounded adults who can join the rest of us in this battle for our faith, and essentially for our very souls/life.

No matter which way we turn, or what subject matter we discuss, the bottom line comes down to that one simple truth: We are truly in a battle between GOOD vs. EVIL, and it looks like evil is about to win out. But that's why I am not about to give up! That's about the time God will move and do the “impossible.” That's why I decided to jump in and do battle, where I was most experienced.

Education is where my personal journey (of things supernatural) really began to materialize and mature in a real tangible sense. We are all here, for such a time as this, for a reason. We all have our individual battles we are fighting in, that are all a part of the BIGGER and more collective battle we all fight in God's kingdom. And this is why I fight:

  1. To praise and glorify God in spite of our Enemy. And, since I know children are very precious to God (yet sadly under grave attack from our very formidable enemy, Satan) – they are very precious to me - whether they are elementary age or grown.

  2. Secondly, the Bible says in Hosea 4:6 – (God is saying to Hosea), “My people perish for lack of knowledge” and I intend on doing my part to share what I've learned and hopefully educate others so we can turn this thing around while there is still time; and share a side of the story you're probably not hearing on the mainstream nightly news.

  3. And finally, my motivation to do this comes from: wanting to encourage and strengthen my brethren and to help them prepare for the battle at hand, which all believers are in (like it or not) - as stated in Luke 22:32 by Christ when He said to Peter, “But I have prayed for you Simon/Peter, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
