The Firearms Safety Course is specifically designed by request for:
• The “New Shooter” or “First Time Hand Gun” owner. • The person with interest in learning about guns or how to shoot them from Firearms Professionals. • The person that has found themselves in a new living or working environment that they are encountering handguns in and wish to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to be safe and comfortable around them. • A person that wants to overcome their inherent fear of firearms.
Abstract
Attendees of the seven hour Handgun Safety Seminar have the opportunity to learn vital information regarding ownership and possession of handguns, along with learning the fundamentals of handling and shooting handguns safely.

Course Overview • NRA Safety Rules • Safe Gun Handling Techniques • Handgun Designs & Types • Firing Positions (Stances) • Fundamentals of Marksmanship • Accuracy/Shot Placement • Live Firing Drills “Each student must complete the 3 hour classroom session before they attend the shooting range live-fire training”.
Equipment Requirements • Students should bring their own good quality HANDGUN in a secure carrying case. (unless you have reserved one of our training handguns), If you do not own a handgun and are interested in learning about handguns and gun safety, we encourage you to call well in advance of the class date you wish to attend. A limited number of training handguns are available, and can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, if you need to rent one; please be sure to tell us early. *You will have to purchase ammunition for your rental gun in addition to the course fee.
• Eye Protection (SHOTS can supply them if you do not have your own)
• Hearing Protection (SHOTS can supply them if you do not have your own)
NOTE: (Unless the student has a license to carry a concealed weapon, Arizona Law requires the gun must be transported open to view or in the glove compartment ,storage compartment or trunk of the vehicle or it must holstered. Arizona Law also states that, if you do not have a CCW license, and you transport your firearm in a case, that case must be boldly labeled, “GUN INSIDE”, to meet Arizona transportation requirements. If you are traveling through any other state, make sure of that state’s individual firearms transition requirements.)
• Ammunition 50 rounds of good quality that matches you guns caliber (Not furnished by SHOTS but can be purchased at Ranch) Students that are renting their handguns from SHOTS will have an additional ammunition fee added to their course fee.
This class starts promptly at 10:00 a.m. and runs until approximately 5:00 p.m.
