How I Quit Smoking without getting fat

So...you want to quit smoking?

I wanted to quit smoking...so I did.  Here is how I quit smoking without getting fat and Saved $200.00 a month.

I am going to give you a list of the detailed steps I took to curb cravings for nicotine without prolonging the ordeal of quitting.

27 Tips for Quitting Smoking Cold Turkey

  1. Get a backbone.  Take responsibility for your decisions.
  2. If you are going to quit and you WANT to quit...you must make a firm decision that you truly are going to quit smoking.
  3. Consider your view of yourself as a non-smoker.  What does that look like?
  4. Forget the words "I am trying to quit".  Bull pucky!  You are either quitting smoking or not quitting smoking.  Choose Now.
  5. Smoke your "last cigarette".
  6. Record the time of your last cigarrette and keep record of your "non-smoking" progress.
  7. Calculate how much money you will be saving daily, weekly, monthly.
  8. Share your decision to quit smoking with other people.
  9. Quit smoking with other people that you smoke with now - together if possible.
  10. Don't buy any more cigarrettes
  11. Do not smoke OPC's (Other People's Cigarrettes) That's cheating yourself and lying to yourself.
  12. Throw away your cigarrette butts and empty all your ashtrays like a "non-smoker".
  13. Expect a nicotine withdrawal for 3 to 5 days. (Agitation - Crazy Feelings - Dissatisfaction)
  14. Don't replace your cigarette handling habit with an electronic cigarette.
  15. Don't apply nicotine patches or chew nicotine gum to extend your nicotine addiction.
  16. Drink lots of water to expedite the process of nicotine leaving your body.
  17. Embrace the feelings of withdrawal as a positive sign your body is healing.
  18. Keep yourself busy with work or projects when you are feeling crazy withdrawal symptoms.
  19. Eat a balanced meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  20. Determine your mindset not to take the frequent breaks (this will be hard).
  21. Realize that you are changing more than an addiction to nicotine.  You are changing your life!
  22. Save the money you are not spending on cigarettes and decide how to treat yourself as a reward.
  23. Make plans for what you will do when your lungs can handle exercise. (Hiking, Running, Biking...etc)
  24. Enjoy the taste of food and wine and coffee without polluting it with cigarette taste.
  25. Replace the cigarette time and craving with a glass of water.
  26. Take a nap if you are unfit for social interaction.
  27. Encourage yourself.  You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!

The bottom line here is that YOU either want to quit or do not want to quit smoking.

27 Tips to How I quit smoking without getting fat and saved $200.00 a monthI do hope this list helps you. So you have to make a decision and "man up" or "woman up" to YOUR decision.  I strongly advise that unless you really want to quit smoking that you don't even try.  Do not lie to yourself.  Quit when you are ready.  The power to quit or to start smoking is totally in your control.

Regarding eating habits.  Eating has a tendency to replace our smoking habit.  While this is fine...you need to make sure that you eat healthy.  One of the best things I did for myself in this regard was to get into a great Health System which included protein and nutrient packed shakes as meal replacements. This is really important...when your body gets the nutrition it needs it is more satisfied and content to deal with the symptoms of withdrawal.

Learn more about the best Health system for your eating habits which I used to help conquer the habit of smoking.
