In keeping with the countdown to the last seven years of this age I would like to share with you more confirmations of end-times prophetic events evolving before our eyes.
The following biblical prophecy should be familiar to most:
Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!” Revelation 6:6
The media are constantly reporting rising food prices, and most of us have noticed it at the grocery store checkout. But few of us would say things are anywhere near the situation depicted in the Revelation prophecy above.
It is now being reported that a new form of an old scourge, Stem Rust, a fungal infection that decimates wheat crops, is spreading from Africa into the Middle East. A little perspective: wheat is a very important grain, being mentioned frequently in the Bible. It is a particularly important grain to the Middle Eastern peoples, both traditionally and practically . . . can’t grow rice and other water-intensive grains very well in arid and semi-arid regions. Wheat is also very important as a food source for the rest of the world as well. Wheat represents 1/5 of the world’s food supply, second only to rice in the diet of people in developing nations!
Naturally, the world takes comfort when scientists declare that they are tackling the problem and may be on the verge of a breakthrough. But reality should also tell us that even if a breakthrough should occur, the developing world would see little benefit, particularly when the global economy can spare little for the have-nots. This is a real plague with the potential in the next several years, coupled with many other factors, to make the purchase of two-pounds of wheat as costly as a day’s wages . . . especially in developing nations!
Yesterday the world experienced an unusual long total eclipse of the moon. Why these eclipses are considered unusual compared to normal eclipses is due to its length, in this case 100 minutes. This is significant because in the last 100 years there have only been three other eclipses that have been 100 minutes or greater, 107 minutes being the greatest possible.
Was this eclipse a prophetic sign? No. Then why do I point it out? Because the next long total eclipse will be on July 27, 2018. This is important because Israel is about to rebel against the covenant God made with Abraham and his descendents. Israel will do this in the coming fall when she gives away her covenant inheritance lands to her enemies as prophesied by Isaiah as the covenant with death. This rebellion will start the seven year countdown and reveal the antichrist. Seven years later we will find ourselves in the year 2018. One of the very last signs we are given before the Messiah comes are those in the sky. As Jesus puts it, “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Luke 21:25-28
Here in Revelation 6 we see a description of those signs in the sun, moon and stars, “The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.”
In all likelihood the next long total lunar eclipse could be the one prophesied. It does line up with the rest of current prophesy fulfillment!
Again, the disclaimer: I know, I know, no one knows the day or the hour . . . agreed! But we can, and are in fact commanded to watch for the signs of the Lord’s coming. The Lord is adamant that we are not in darkness that we should be surprised like a thief. As such, I am presenting two signs that need to be watched. Do with them what you will.
There are many false prophets who have come to stir up the waters and reduce the clarity of God’s foretelling in the Bible. Harold Camping comes to mind. His failure on May 21st I have already elaborated on earlier in the Daily Watch. He now predicts the coming of the Messiah in October of this year. He has, and will continue to do, much damage to the true Word of God. I can do nothing about such men. I will call out warnings from the wall, receive them or not, unlike many others I do not call in vain!
