UPDATE on HAROLD CAMPING REVISED PROPHETIC MESSAGE: He was wrong on the dates.
So what happened to Harold Camping the day after his false prophecy failed to come true on May 21, 2011.
What was his reaction on May 22, 2011? Who was there to record it? What happens next? Take a look at the videos below to see Harold Camping himself answer the door and give an account for his actions and words.
This is why Christians should read the Word of God and not rely on others to tell them what is going to happen. If they listen to others then they should study themselves like the Bereans to know and understand if what is said aligns with God's Word.
Is the end still going to come? Yes. But what exactly is the end? What exactly is the rapture? What exactly is the Day of Judgment?
How can we answer these questions? From God's Word....and primarily we know that scripture says, "No man knows the day or the hour." It really could not get any more clear than that. So why would any man put himself on the line like this?
It truly must be the case that Harold Camping has no solid understanding of eschatology. If he does understand it then he is a false prophet and God have mercy on his soul...that he might seek wisdom from God and find the truth.
These are simple matters...and most people who have any sense at all and know how to read did not believe Harold Camping because his message did not align with God's Word.
This also reminds me of another scripture.
Luke 21:8-9
8He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. 9When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”
This little escapade fits right into the prophetic words of Jesus. So in a perverse sort of way this false prophet is a sign of the times that we are in.
But what comes after this time that we are in....Jesus said the end will not come right away.
Here is the context for the rest of the words of Christ regarding "the end".
Luke 21:10-28
10Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
12“But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. 13This will result in your being witnesses to them. 14But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17All men will hate you because of me. 18But not a hair of your head will perish. 19By standing firm you will gain life.
20“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. 22For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. 23How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. 24They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
So keep your heads up. Keep preparing your hearts, minds, souls, and bodies for the coming persecution (which has not even begun yet) and the blessed hope of His return.
Don't let this crazy, deluded old man who gave a false prophecy sway your faith in what God has planned for you and the rest of the world. There are plenty of signs all around us indicating the late hour of this time in which we live. This episode is merely a distraction of the enemy to make faith in Christ look stupid and pointless, and I am sure it probably had great effect on many...to sway them away from the "nonsense" of the Christian faith.
Honestly to me...he looks and sounds as crazy as his message was...and he almost seems a little repentant.
He does not have a grip on reality. But you judge for yourself. Kind of sad...really.
