Is the U.N. Turning Against Israel and Moving Towards The Gog Magog War of Ezekiel 38?
Regarding your question.
As I see it, and as I believe scripture teaches…we need to see a peace treaty first. Signed for 7 years.
The one who signs it would be the antichrist.
Ezekiel 38 talks about the invasion of Gog and Magog.
The imagery described in the battle seems to be leaning towards the event of the nations (armies of the antichrist) surrounding Jerusalem and the antichrist himself standing in the temple ready for his armies to desolate Jerusalem.
This follows along with the portions of scripture that say antichrist will reign for 42 months.
Israel will be will be decimated. 2/3 of the population will die or be taken captive.
This is also when the remnant of Israel will be protected in the wilderness for 1260 days. (42 months.)
The tribulation that Jesus talks about when the abomination of desolation takes place corresponds with Luke 21 where Jesus says “when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that the desolation thereof is nigh”
The events of armies surrounding Jerusalem and antichrist standing in the temple declaring himself to be God happen at the same time. Triggering the tribulation that Jesus talks about.
During this tribulation…Jews and Christians will be persecuted.
If the tribulation were not cut short…no flesh would be saved…but for the sake of the elect it will be cut short.
This is the event which we see in scripture when Jesus says, immediately after the tribulation of those days will the moon will be as blood and the sun will not give it’s light. …These are the signs that precede the coming of Christ on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
This is the moment at which he sends His angels to gather the elect from the four winds of the earth. This is the rapture.
When Christ comes…it is what we call “the parousia”. The Day of the Lord takes care of all of the events of rapture and wrath of God over a period of time that is not directly defined. It is the day or time of the Lord. When God begins to intervene in the affairs of men and to set the world straight, rewarding the saints and punishing the wicked. It is not just one day that we mark on our calendars. It is the beginning of a new era which encompasses the kingdom of God being established on the earth, where He will rule and reign with a rod of iron.
So to summarize…the Day of the Lord occurs sometime in the middle of the tribulation which Jesus said would be cut short for the sake of the elect. And begins with the rapture of the elect. It is closely followed by the wrath of God after the saints have been removed and the remnant of Israel is secure.
The tribulation starts at the midpoint of the seven year covenant confirmed by antichrist.
We have not yet seen the covenant confirmed for seven years by the antichrist.
So this gathering storm of nations which are undergoing revolution and wars and rumors of wars would qualify as birth pains…as Jesus said…but the end is not yet. These things must happen. Gog Magog Ezekiel 38
But we have a clear sign from God’s Word about what we should be watching. We must trust His Word to see if these things are so…filtering every event through the lens of scripture.
It is possible that a preliminary war or wars could take place as these powers move and position the nations into the final beast of power. These wars, rumors of war, and revolutions are merely birth pangs as we warm up to the real event.
I am keeping an eye on Turkey because the last beast Turkish Ottoman Empire who will revive into the beast empire of antichrist will be from this area. Probably highly motivated by religious and political power the whole region (revived empire) will see Israel as a problem. Gog Magog Ezekiel 38
But scripture also says that by peace he shall deceive many. This is a reference I believe to the covenant of peace that antichrist will “falsely” confirm with the many for seven years. It will appear to be peace…but it obviously will not be at the midpoint of the seven years.
